How to Use the NG Word List Screen
This screen displays a list of NG word lists registered in the organization. You can also search for NG word lists by specifying criteria. To add a new NG word list, click [+ Register New NG Word List] at the top of the screen.
- Search Criteria Area
- NG Word List Name
- NG Word List
- Import: If you import into an existing NG Word List, an overwrite import will be performed. Please note that the contents of the selected NG Word List will be completely replaced. The source language setting will not be changed. After importing, you can manually add NG words from the NG Word List Details screen.
- Export: When you perform [Export] on an existing NG Word List, the contents of the NG Word List are exported as an NG Word List file (in ngwx format). The NG Word List name is used as the exported file name. (For example, for the NG Word List "NGterms_ENJA", the file name will be "NGterms_ENJA.ngwx".)
- Edit: Clicking the icon opens the NG Word List Details screen, where you can review and modify the details of the NG Word List.
What is an NG Word List?
An NG Word List defines terms (NG words) that are not recommended for use for each project. In Quick PE, it is referenced by the validation and retranslation functions on the Editor screen used by linguists (translators and checkers). Each project administrator can register multiple NG Word Lists. Registered NG Word Lists can be edited and deleted.
In this system, an "NG word" refers to a term that, when included in the source text, does not produce effective results through machine translation. If the source text contains an NG word and the machine translation result is not the desired translation, you may be able to obtain a better machine translation result by revising the source text in the [Source Text Revision] column on the Editor screen and performing [Retranslate].
NG Word Lists are shared with other project administrators in the organization. On the NG Word List Management screen, you can search for NG Word Lists registered by other project administrators and view their details. You can also edit (update/delete) and save NG Word Lists and NG words registered by other project administrators.
Files That Can Be Imported
Please note that the following restrictions apply to files that can be imported as NG Word Lists.
- File format (extension): ngwx
- File size: 500 MB
- Number of lines/characters: No limit
- Language: The source language must be a supported language code
“ngwx” is a file format specific to this system for NG word lists. You can import a file exported from the NG word list list screen and use it as another NG word list data set.
How to specify the NG word lists to use in a project
- After registering an NG word list, first select the NG word lists to use in the group on the Group Details screen. The NG word lists that can be selected on the Group Details screen are only those registered in the organization. Multiple NG word lists can be selected for a group.
- Next, select the NG word lists to use in the project on the Project Details screen. Of the NG word lists selected for the group, the NG word lists that can be specified on the Project Details screen are only those whose source language matches the language direction selected for the highest-priority machine translation engine, and multiple NG word lists can be specified for each project.
- NG word lists can be deleted even if they are currently in use (selected) by a group or project. If you delete data using the [Delete] button at the bottom of the NG Word List Details screen, it can no longer be referenced by import processing, validation processing on the Editor screen, or retranslation processing, even if it has already been selected on the Group Details screen or Project Details screen.
Even if one or more NG word lists are selected for a group, it is also possible not to specify (not use) an NG word list for a project. On the other hand, if no NG word list is selected for a group, NG word lists cannot be used in projects.
